Gordon Mountain Fire
"We had some time babysitting a backfire on the East side of the fire, right on top of the mountain, so we got the camera out. We arrived at this fire just before dark on the 19th and the last of our crew departed at 05:30 on the 20th. We worked 2 other large fires earlier in the day. We had a crew of 11 wildland firefighters. Not sure of all of the crews who were working. FFW Bob Llewellyn and FFW Mark Bower also had crews on our section of the fire." 2nd of 5 pics submitted by Warden Thomas Johns

Ringtown Valley Wildland Firefighters
Photo Taken: Night of 4/19 - 4/20/08
Ringtown Valley Wildland Firefighters cut a line from the burn out on top of the mountain down the north side of the mountain and cut off the movement of the fire toward the east and down the mountain toward the homes. V 37 (Rod) and Bob Llewellyn burned out the fuel to contain the head fire, and working with Mark Bower's Tamaqua fire crew patrolled the burnout to insure the burnout was complete. Later on, Tom John's St. Clair fire crew patrolled the north side of the mountain into the early morning hours. Ringtown's crew was released from the fire line because they had accumulated their alloted working hours.

Plane in fly by, on the next pass he dropped on the line. Fire in Lavelle 4/24/08 1730hrs. Total acres about 9. Ringtown Valley Wildland Firefighters along with other crews dug line and put out spot fires.
Air Tanker pilots make a fly-by of the drop zone before making their actual drop. This lets any crews on the ground know where the water / retardant drop will be made so they have time to clear out if they are in the drop zone
