The song "Smokey The
Bear" was written in 1952 by Steve Nelson and Jack
Rollins and has been recorded by a handful of
artists. The most widely available today was
recorded by Gene Autry and was re-released as part
of a compilation of digitally re-mastered
tracks released on March 24, 1998. Although
there is no "The" in Smokey's name, Nelson and
Rollins used it to make the song flow better.
Since then, much confusion has engulfed Smokey's
name, but his name is and ever shall be just "Smokey
Bear"
Below you can download
both the sheet music and Gene Autry's
Recording of Smokey The Bear, so you can sing along
